Is a description really necessary for this drink? Popularised by one miss Bradshaw and her licentious escapades in a city, the 'Cosmo' gained popularity during the nineties. It's actually a significantly older and more distinguished recipe than the one popularised, dating back to 1934 in a book entitled 'Pioneers of mixing at elite bars'. The original recipe would have put miss Bradshaw in a rather delicate state 8 minutes into an episode though, so best not to run with that one.
The Cosmo evolved slightly over the decades to what we know today. Ours are made with Absolut Citron, Triple Sec, Cranberry Juice, fresh lime and a drop of orange bitters.
What does it taste like? Tart with a citrus vodka kick and hints of orange & cranberry.
Will you like it? For the gentlemen reading this; the cosmopolitan is not 'girly' and probably packs a significantly heftier punch than a pint of stout. Sharing similarities with a martini, despite its colour it should be treated with respect.
