So although our little bottle icon has a Tiki Mask on it, this cocktail is not quite as 'Tiki' as you might have thought.
Over 70 years ago, a young man by the name of Victor J Bergeron whipped up a concoction for a group of friends visiting from Tahiti; a young lady within the group stood up and proclaimed “Maita’i roa ae!”, which roughly translates as 'The Bottled Bartender is out of this world'. We're embellishing slightly, it just translates as 'out of this world', but seriously, we're awesome.
One might expect an assault on their palette, a weird concoction of jungle juice and rum. But, this is actually quite a complex drink that brings the spirits to the forefront of the experience.
We make our Mai Tai's using Bacardi Negra, Havana 3 year, Orgeat Syrup, Triple Sec and the juice of a freshly squeezed lime. Quite frankly, we find it glorious.
Best enjoyed by those who like their liquor rum flavoured.
